Description

Stån is the result of a design process focused on maximizing utility while minimizing the spatial footprint of a coat stand. Developed to address the need for a compact yet functional coat stand, Stån is designed to hold coats and jackets without consuming valuable space or overwhelming the room with its presence. This project began with the disassembly and analysis of various existing coat stands, focusing on stability, material use, and dimensions to identify the most efficient design.

The result is a highly functional coat stand that maintains stability even when holding heavy winter coats. The use of bent and welded steel rods ensures both structural integrity and cost efficiency, making it easy to manufacture. The material’s sleek and slender profile offers a minimalist aesthetic that blends seamlessly into any space without drawing attention. The simplicity of the design ensures that it provides practical use without sacrificing visual harmony.

What sets Stån apart is its innovative dual-height hanging system. The two hanging points are separated by a height difference of 24 cm, designed specifically to accommodate coats and jackets of varying lengths. This thoughtful detail ensures that both coats and jackets can be hung in a way that they maintain an even distance from the floor, creating a neat and orderly appearance. By accounting for the different lengths of garments, Stån helps maintain visual consistency in the room, reinforcing its role as a space-saving, unobtrusive piece of furniture.

The stand’s minimalist form, paired with its robust construction, makes it a versatile addition to any environment. It serves as both a functional coat stand and a subtle design element, offering a clean, organized solution for hanging outerwear.
